The History of the

 First Presbyterian Church ofSaratoga, Wyoming

Our mission statement:  "Praising God Through Service To Others."

Platte Valley
The Platte River Valley is cradled between the Snowy Range mountains to the east, the Sierra Madre mountains to the southwest, and by contrast, the Red Desert to the north!  Ranching, lumbermills, mining, oil and natural gas exploration, and year round tourism from its many outdoor recreational opportunities, are all part of the multi-layered history of the valley.

As the the town grew in population, the need for a place to worship also grew.  Our congregation formed  in 1890.  The churchbuilding,  an historic landmark today, was completed in 1896.  The interior was updated again, in 1997.

We embrace our community by hosting an interdemoninational youth group,  an ecumenical Prayer Shawl Ministry, and by opening our doors to several other groups, like Kiwanis and the Community Choir.  As members of the Platte Valley Ministerial Association and also of the local Chamber of Commerce, we support  local ministries like our Food Bank and have been instumental in bringing enrichment programs to the community.

It is always our goal to make the world a better place in which we live, and in so doing, we seek to fullfill our mission to "praise God through our service to others".
